F1000 MANUFACTURERS CUP CREATED FOR NEW SERIES
 
Chassis manufacturers to battle for top honors within the new F1000 Championship   

GREEN BAY, WIS. (February 13, 2009) – Opportunities for those racing in Formula 1000, the newest open-wheel class in the Sports Car Club of America, continue to grow for 2009. Racing under the ‘Formula’ B banner in SCCA Club Racing National competition, the various chassis manufacturers involved in F1000 will now have the chance to battle for class supremacy via the creation of the eFormulaCarNews.com Manufacturers’ Cup. As part of the newly created F1000 Championship Presented by George Dean Racing Engines and Taylor Race Engineering, the Manufacturers’ Cup will pit the top F1000 chassis against one another in SCCA National competition. 

With the primary goal of earning the F1000 class an invite to the 2010 year-end National Championship Runoffs by increasing SCCA National participation numbers to 2.5 cars per race or greater, the new F1000 Championship is a year-long competition that will utilize the traditional SCCA National points system (12, 9, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1) to determine a national champion.  Accordingly, the eFormulaCarNews.com Manufacturers’ Cup with follow the same points program, taking a set number of results from each SCCA national in an effort to honor the category’s winning chassis manufacturer.  Constructor points will be awarded to the top two finishes for each chassis piloted by a registered F1000 Championship at each SCCA Club Racing National race. In addition to these points being awarded, bonus points will be available via the third annual F1000 Championship race, which will again be part of the American Road Race of Champions event at Road Atlanta in November. Utilizing this points format, the inaugural Manufacturers’ Cup trophy will be awarded at the conclusion of the 2009 campaign. 

In addition to earning bragging rights and the series trophy, the manufacturers will be awarded advertising credit by eFormulaCarNews.com and its parent company, the Howden Media Group, which can be within any or all of the operations online properties (eFormulaCarNews.com, eKartingNews.com and IndoorKartingNews.com). Credit will be awarded for each podium finish in the F1000 Championship Series.
