For Immediate
Release: March 23 , 2010 The 2010 F1000 Championship presented by George Dean Racing Engines and Taylor Race Engineering is proud to welcome our newest Associate Sponsor: Philadelphia Motorsports. Philly Motorsports is the builder of the DB-X F1000, one of the newest offerings for the Formula 1000 class. Designed in conjunction with Barani Design, the DB-X was conceived to make maintaining the car easy without compromising performance. According to Philly owner Sal Donato, the car uses a single upright design, a single bell crank design, a single shock, and symmetrical suspension components, all with the goal of keeping maintenance costs and spares inventory to a minimum. As a former mechanic himself, Donato empathizes with the guys that work on race cars and set out to build a car that he himself would like to work on, scratching two complete chassis before settling on the car that is currently being produced. The feature that Donato is most proud of is the fact that the cars are 100% built in the United States with top-notch materials and components. The final prototype was shaken down at Summit Point in November and production began shortly after. So far, three cars have been sold, with two more sales pending. Although the new owners are not well-known in open-wheel circles, Donato is confident that they'll be at the front of the pack this season. He said, "Sure, I could put a top hotshoe in my car and win races, but how would people know that it's the car and not the driver?"
Philly Motorsports plans for 2010 are ambitious. The car will continue to be developed with the help of test driver and Formula Ford driver Eric Langbein. The car owners will participate in regional and national races in the Northeast, and the team will attempt to make the long tow West to participate in the West Coast F1000 Pro Series.
